Superfood smoothies are the talk of the town! Whether you’re in Ubud, Los Angeles or Bondi, everyone is sipping the deliciousness of creamy, rich and full-of-goodness smoothies.
If you haven’t already been to our store, we make an abundance of different varieties of superfood smoothies in our cafe. Green goodness, blueberry bliss, banana chai, raw cacao and so many more – you name it and we have them blending in our Vitamix.
We are doing a new superfood smoothie at The Health Emporium, called The Golden Goodness Super Smoothie; it is a gorgeous golden-yellow colour and already hugely popular.
As the weather starts to cool, it’s a good idea to include ingredients in your smoothies that will increase the immune system, reduce inflammation in the body and help to fight off cold and flus.
Turmeric has amazing health benefits; being anti-inflammatory, it helps to fight infections, is a powerful antioxidant, aids digestion, and is regarded in Ayurvedic medicine as a blood-purifier and liver detoxifier. Ginger is also beneficial for digestion, is an anti-inflammatory, as well as assists sore throats, colds and coughs and circulation. Maca powder is energising as it is full of vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids. And cinnamon aids in circulation, digestion and colds.
The best part is that you can get all the aforementioned ingredients in one glass, as per our autumn smoothie recipe below.
The Perfect Autumn Smoothie: Golden Goodness
Ingredients
- 2 Small Bananas Chopped and frozen
- 1 Cup Mango Chopped
- 4 Tsp Turmeric Fresh & grated, or 2 tsp dried turmeric
- 4 Tsp Ginger Grated & fresh
- 1 Tsp Maca Powder
- 6 Macadamia Nuts Raw
- 1 Tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 Cup Unsweetened Coconut Milk or almond milk , more if necessary
- 1 Tsp Rice Syrup or maple syrup , optional
Instructions
- Pour all in the ingredients apart from the rice syrup into a blender (a stick blender works well too) and mix thoroughly, adding more coconut milk if necessary.
- Taste and sweeten if needed with the rice or maple syrup.
Notes
*The water and scooped out flesh of a fresh coconut instead of the coconut milk would be delicious and creamy.
*The macadamias can be replaced with your favourite nut; cashews, almonds or brazil nuts.
*You could replace the mango with papaya, pineapple, orange, mandarin, pear or even leftover roast pumpkin or sweet potato.
