We are always welcoming beautiful new products to our shelves at The Health Emporium and have recently learnt to love the range of Swiss-style raw cheese’s from Australian cheesemaker Fromart. Once we love something we want to share all there is to know about this gorgeous product with our devoted customers. There really is a lot to love about these skilfully created mature cheeses – the delicate flavours and textures, the traditional methods used to mature the cheeses so that they are as least processed and as close to nature as possible.
Fromart is a family owned business that handcrafts their cheese on a Queensland farm, sourcing only the freshest and highest quality local milk. Fromart believes that cheeses made according to the traditional methods are the real deal. You can literally taste the love that has gone into creating this truly tasty product.
The idea of Fromart was born when Christian Nobal and his wife Yvonne were on one of their many hikes in a rugged alpine area in Switzerland. Christian shared his inspiration to start the company and some personal facts behind Fromart with us below:
Where did the inspiration behind this company come from?
Whilst on a hike with my wife Yvonne on our way up to Vrenelis Gaertli, a superb mountain well known for its great panoramic views, we stopped at a rustic alpine hut where a cheese maker stayed over summer with his family and a few cows. As a tradition, these farmers and cheese makers let their cows graze the best juicy alpine herbs and grass between June and September and turn this precious milk into some of the world’s best cheese Switzerland is so proud of.
We spent the night in the hut and shared a great cheese platter, some Swiss dry meat and a few glasses of wine with the cheese maker and his family. A passionate discussion started between our two families about the mountains, our family ties in Australia and the great and simple life and food in the Alps. The friendliness of our host, the exceptional cheese and the romantic atmosphere in the hut must have ignited our imagination and nurtured a wild dream. Fromart® (from the French word fromage and art) Swiss style cheese on the other side of the world was born!
What makes your products different from other similar ones currently on the market?
We sell cheeses you can only find in Switzerland. We are Swiss, and live Swiss traditions and values.

We are selling four of these amazing organic cheeses at The Health Emporium. All made from certified organic raw cows milk and hand crafted in a small one-man fromagerie.
The Gruyere – melts well without separating and is often used for sauces, with grilled meats, poultry and fish. It is mild but slightly sharp.
The D’alpage – great for cooking, the perfect addition to any meal or to compliment a drop of your favourite wine.
The Le Barron – a smooth and creamy delicacy from the rough climate of the Jura alps. This cheese is great on crackers, with fruit or olives or even perfect on its own.
The Berghof – reducing the fat content to 25%, the cheese maker crafted this cheese to punch your taste buds and to impress any lover of great cheese platters.
