Classic Almond Loaf
No Grainer’s Classic Almond Loaf is a fluffy, flavoursome bread that is perfect for sandwiches and compliments any toppings, both sweet and savoury. Unlike other gluten free breads it does not require toasting in order to be edible! It is also extremely flexible so you won’t end up with a big pile of crumbs at the end of your sandwich like you often do with gluten free bread. This loaf is a favourite with kids as it doesn’t contain any ‘bits’ like the seeded loaf and has a lighter feel that most young taste testers prefer.
Mixed Seed Loaf
The Mixed Seed Loaf is for those who prefer a denser more multi-textured bread. They have taken the classic loaf and amped it up a notch by adding a huge helping of organic white and black sesame seeds and pepitas. Because of its density, this bread is the perfect base for a fully loaded open sandwich as it won’t cave under the pressure of multiple toppings. This loaf is a favourite amongst most adults who love a bit of crunch and texture to their bread as well as the added health benefits of organic seeds.
Date, Raisin & Walnut Loaf
Out of all our breads, this is the one that people go most nuts for – maybe that’s because it’s absolutely crammed with nuts? Or maybe it’s the lashings of organic dates and plump raisins? Actually, No Grainer creators think it’s both. This bread is part cake, part fruit loaf and part something else entirely as people say they’ve never tasted fruit bread like it. With the added sweetness of organic honey & cinnamon, this loaf is absolutely bursting with flavour. It’s so good you can eat it on its own but it’s also delicious smothered in grass fed organic butter.
No Grainer has also created a range of grain free pizza bases using local and organic ingredients. They are 100% paleo, vegan and contain approximately 50% less carbs than traditional wheat flour bases. They contain no grains or pseudo grains, gluten, yeast, preservatives or bean flours and are crispy, light and delicious.
No Grainer was started by Jo and Sally Godfrey, two sisters in Melbourne with various food intolerances who wanted to be able to eat grain-free products that actually tasted delicious. They took some time to answer some of our questions about their amazing new company below:
1. Where did the inspiration behind your company come from?
The inspiration for our company was born out of necessity – we really missed eating bread!! Our bread is the only bread that we can eat which doesn’t cause us a long list of undesirable side effects. I am a gluten intolerant Type 1 diabetic and most gluten free breads contain ingredients that spike my blood sugars through the roof. My sister Jo is a coeliac and even gluten free bread gives her heartburn, bloating and gut pain. We made a bread to suit our needs and wanted to share it with all our friends out there who also need to tick the ‘special dietary requirements’ box!
2. What makes your bread different from other similar products currently on the market?
Our bread doesn’t use any cheap fillers. The main ingredient (besides water) is almond flour which I don’t believe any other bread in the Australian market uses as its main ingredient. There’s a good reason for that – it’s really expensive! We didn’t want to compromise on the quality and nutrition of our product and we have found that our customers truly understand that and are willing to pay a bit extra for our bread. Our bread is also really filling and you don’t need to eat very much to feel satisfied.
Another great thing about our bread is that is tastes best fresh and doesn’t require toasting to be edible like so many gluten free breads out there. You can actually make a sandwich with it and it won’t fall apart!

3. What are some of the benefits we can gain from eating your wonderful paleo grain free breads?
We can’t speak for everyone as we all react differently to food, however, we have personally found the following benefits from eating our bread: stable blood sugars, more energy – there is no spike followed by a slump, no bloating, no heartburn, feeling fuller for longer, a healthy, happy gut and dare we say… having regular bowels. Not everyone likes to talk about it but it’s definitely one of the benefits!
4. What is your favourite No Grainer product?
We both love the mixed seeded loaf topped with some avocado, rock salt and sauerkraut. Our other favourite product is our hot cross buns – there’s not long to go now before they’re available! They are our most popular product, we have had people asking us for months to bring them out early. They are so amazing warmed up and spread with some grass-fed butter. They make saying goodbye to summer more bearable!
5. What does the company have in store for the future?
We just want to keep growing and adding to our range. We have so many ideas for new products, it’s just finding the time to bring it all to fruition. I think the next step is to hire some people to help us as the business is getting too big for the two of us!!
