The comforting feelings that arise from eating a hot slice of toast smothered in melted butter is an extremely satisfying experience no-one can deny. Many of us would find it tremendously difficult to ignore the temptation that this simple pleasantry provides.
Here at the Health Emporium we are always looking out for healthier, guilt free, organic alternatives and when it comes to dairy Pepe Saya has come through with the goods and created an award-winning, cultured butter which nutritionists just love.
Pepe Saya Cultured Butter is a beautiful and nutrient dense health food that is rich in enzymes and has a strongly enhanced flavour from culturing. The term ‘Cultured’ means the butter has been produced from cream that has been fermented with lactic acid bacteria which helps the body to absorb important fat-soluble vitamins and minerals. Because it has matured, cultured butter contains an extra dose of micro-organisms making it a probiotic food. These tiny little bacteria actually already exist in our digestive system and help us break down what we eat. Cultured butters just give our bodies an additional probiotic boost.
Pepe Saya Cultured Butter is made from 100% Australian cream, fresh from a local farm: Country Valley Dairy in Picton, where the cows are pasture fed. It is cultured over a two-week period, churned, and then shaped by the hardworking and loving hands of Pepe Saya’s passionate team. The butter is top quality, not just in production, but also in texture, flavour and appearance.
‘Butter Maker’ Pierre A.K.A. Pepe has given us some insight into the Pepe Saya company below:
How long has Pepe Saya been operating?
I started selling the butter retail in 2010, haven’t had time to look back since!
What is the motive behind your product?
To make the best tasting butter possible.
What is your favourite product?
The Creme Fraiche; it is the foundation flavour for the butter and it took me a while to get it to the standard it is today.
What does Pepe Saya have planned for the future?
In the short term, it’s all about telling Australia about Pepe Saya Butter and hope one day 23 million people will get to taste it.
At The Health Emporium we stock the following beautiful, nutrient rich Pepe Saya products:
Ghee – 275g glass jars
Mascarpone – 250g tub
Creme Fraiche – 250g tub
Butter – 225g, salted and unsalted
Pepe Saya Butter is tangy, creamy and lush enough to spread on anything that stops on your breadboard. This butter definitely has more benefits than standard European style butter which is normally pale due to grain-fed cattle which are housed in barns for most of the year. The Health Emporium is currently stocking all of Pepe Saya’s lovely products to put your guilty conscience to rest.
